Pages to Projects – October 2020
Sometimes words can be so fun to say aloud that even when they are describing horrible people or disgusting things you can’t help but laugh. This phenomenon is very much at play in this month’s book selection, George’s Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl. In the story George, left alone with his horrid grandmother, decides to cook up a concoction stronger than her usual medicine in an attempt to cure her grumpiness. Both George and his Grandmother are surprised by the effects!
Project
Taking inspiration from Dahl’s illustrative language and over-the-top exaggeration, we are going to develop our own ingredient list and recipe for a messy, bubbling, gross perilous potion, and then paint a bottle of it using glue, salt, and watercolors.
This month’s kit includes:
- Potion project packet
- Potion bottle templates
- Glue
- Popsicle stick
- Salt
- Watercolor Paint
- Pipette
