Pages to Projects – December 2020
We’re back with another interpretation of Jack of Jack and the Beanstalk fame. In this graphic novel, author and illustrator Ben Hatke reimagines a whole new adventure for Jack, his sister Maddy, and new friend Lilly.
Jack might be the only kid in the world who is dreading the summer. But he’s got a good reason: summer is when his single mom takes a second job and leaves him at home to watch his autistic kid sister, Maddy. It’s a lot of responsibility, and it’s boring, too, because Maddy doesn’t talk. Ever. But then, one day at the flea market, Maddy does talk – and tells Jack to trade their mom’s car for a box of mysterious seeds.
It’s the best mistake Jack has ever made.

Project
The seeds that Jack brings home sprout into a crazy garden filled with plants that definitely have a mind of their own. For our project this month we’re going to try our own hand at gardening! You can create your own growing creature that you can care for and even trim from time to time.
This month’s kit includes:
- The Mighty Jack packet
- Paper cup
- Nylon hosiery
- Potting soil
- Grass Seeds
- Decorations
- Copy of Mighty Jack (yours to keep)
