The Friends of the Lansing Community Library, as a separate 501c3 non-profit organization, raises funds for the LCL. The group is comprised of volunteers who act independently of, but in conjunction with, the library’s Trustees and library manager, to preserve, promote, and strengthen library services. Working as ambassadors for the library, the Friends protect and encourage sources of funding, and often partner with other organizations to enhance the role of the library in the community.
In addition to contributing a set amount of funds each year to the LCL budget to support summer reading and offset technology replacement costs, the Friends also fully fund improvements to and upkeep of the LCL gardens. The group also absorbs the majority of costs associated with the many varied programs offered at the LCL throughout the year. The financial and volunteer contributions made by the Friends are critical to the success of the LCL.
Friends of LCL Book Sales
The Friends of LCL hold two book sales per year, typically in June and November. Donations are accepted at the library year round with the exception of the two weeks before and after each sale. Bring all donated items to the LCL circulation desk during open library hours. Do not place donations in the outside book drop as that limited space is reserved for returned library materials.
