Making a Gift or Donation to LCL
When you choose to make a donation to LCL you share a gift with your entire community and enhance the lives of those around you. All donations to LCL are tax deductible and support the library in a variety of ways. Give in person, securely online, or to our endowment managed by the Community Foundation of Tompkins County. Alternatively, you can also support LCL through purchases made via the Amazon Smile program (see sidebar).
How do I give in person?
Visit the Lansing Community Library at 27 Auburn Road in Lansing, New York. Circulation volunteers or staff members will be there to assist you. The Library greatly appreciates monetary donations of any amount. Make checks payable to Lansing Community Library. We also accept cash donations, and will provide a donation acknowledgment receipt upon request.
Donating Books or Other Materials
The Friends of LCL hold two book sales per year, typically in June and November. Donations are accepted at the library year round with the exception of the two weeks before and after each sale. Bring all donated items to the LCL circulation desk during open library hours. Do not place donations in the outside book drop as that limited space is reserved for returned library materials.
We do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, Readers’ Digest Books, or magazines.
Donation receipt forms are available.
How do I donate to the LCL Endowment Fund?
The LCL established an endowment fund managed by the Community Foundation of Tompkins County in 2011. As of September, the endowment has grown to $110,932.95 through the generosity of 123 donors and the growth in the investment market. The LCL has taken two grants, totaling $4,657, from our endowment. These grants are an important source of funds that we now budget for annually. The LCL continues to develop the endowment fund to ensure that our library can successfully meet the future needs of our community.
